Capabilities
- Total Wealth Management
Let’s look at the whole picture for a change.
Our firm is uniquely interested in working with your total financial picture. We review your tax documents, review your existing trust and estate planning documents, and also review your investment and financial holdings. Are their issues relating to transfer to the next generation that may have been overlooked? How do your beneficiaries handle their own financial affairs? Is there a need for insurance to pay for estate taxes? Are your investment assets positioned properly based on your risk tolerance and needs for growth or income? How does your tax situation, both now and in the future, compare to your asset allocation? These are just a few of the questions that we ask during an engagement with our client.
Are you a client that has yet to create an estate plan? If so, we can help. After a complete review, we will formulate a plan of action based on our discussions and dialogue. Once our review is complete, we engage the services of your attorney or refer you to legal counsel for the drafting of your legal documents. We are a part of the process along every step of the way making sure that your assets and your documents mirror your wishes. We make sure that the steps needed to create an effective wealth plan are in place before the time it is needed.
- Trust Services
Trust services are provided through Old Mission Trust Company and can be an integral part of your total wealth plan.
At Old Mission Trust, we understand that acting on behalf of our clients and their families is a tremendous responsibility. For many years, we have been a trusted advisor to our clients. When needed, we now have the capacity to act as trustee for our clients and their families. We understand the complexity and responsibility that comes with your wealth. Trusts play an important role in keeping your assets private.
We have the ability to review your existing estate plan in conjunction with your goals and objectives. A smooth transition from one generation to the next requires careful estate and investment planning in efforts to minimize taxes to beneficiaries and your estate. We also take external conditions into consideration, such as present and expected future tax rates, beneficiary considerations, and regulatory changes that may impact your intentions for wealth transfer.
Retaining Old Mission Trust Company is an effective way to ensure that your trust and estate is settled and distributed in accordance with your wishes. At all points during our relationship, we seek to minimize the administrative burden on your family, while maintaining family balance when significant decisions need to be made.

- Investment Advisory
Old Mission Investment Company is a fee-only investment management firm. This type of investment management agreement allows the client to compensate our firm based on an advisory fee rather than a brokerage commission. Old Mission Investment Company provides flexible investment management services allowing for the purchase of stocks, bonds and mutual funds without commissions, sales charges or mutual fund loads.
As a fee-only investment advisor, we are paid a percentage of the assets we manage. This allows us to provide our clients with product-neutral recommendations across all facets of the investment management relationship. We have access to the entire universe of mutual funds, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), and separate account managers. Having this type of flexibility provides us with the ability to pick the 'best of breed' regardless of the type of fund or investment we are using on behalf of our client.
We have no proprietary investment products of our own and strongly believe that proprietary products may generate a potential conflict of interest. Investment planning can be a one-way street when the end of the road is a pre-packaged proprietary product disguised as an 'objective' recommendation. As a fiduciary, every recommendation we make is solely for your benefit, not ours.

- Planning
Financial planning can provide the answer to the many questions you may have.
When can I retire? How much do I need to save? How much do I need to have when I retire? These are all common questions to a complex situation. Our firm can provide you with summary responses to many of the traditional and non-traditional questions you may have concerning your financial situation. Our financial planning process involves a detailed questionnaire providing our firm with a unique insight concerning your personal balance sheet.
Our firm is fortunate to have three Certified Financial Planners (CFP) on staff. While many people may seek the opinion of an advisor, it is important to understand that the educational background of the advisor can be just as important as their investment experience. Many things have changed over the past several years concerning financial planning techniques. Our planners and investment analysts are required to complete up to 40 hours of continuing education every 24 months. This provides our firm with a fresh perspective that takes into consideration the financial planning aspects of tax, estate, and investment management.
- Philanthropy
Non-profit entities play a vital role in the philanthropic framework of our nation. Foundations and endowments provide the necessary capital for many schools, shelters, and programs vital to supporting organizations in need of funding.
Our firm is proud to work with both endowments and foundations in their philanthropic efforts. We provide advice and counsel on a variety of different matters, and assist in topics such as Investment Policy Statement (IPS) creation, investment management, and philanthropic educational events for our clients. We are available to meet with members of your foundation or non-profit entity to discuss matters involving investment performance, or to assist in the grant-making process. We can even coordinate the filing of necessary tax forms and provide a customized statement of grant recipients. No matter what the challenge, we can help.
We have worked with families to create private family foundations and provided direction to those families looking to structure philanthropy into their wealth plan. For some families, philanthropy can give their wealth purpose that lasts from one generation to the next. Whether we assist in the establishment of a family foundation or provide investment counsel to your existing organization, we will help manage your philanthropic efforts so they remain consistent with your estate plan. This can serve as a way to give back to your community, while also involving younger members of your family in a common purpose.
